HIV PREVENTION, CARE AND SUPPORT INTERVENTION FOR TRUCKERS AND ALLIED POPULATIONS 

In collaboration with the Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society 

Manthan Foundation works with 1,20,000 truck drivers and allied workers such as cleaners and helpers in APMC market area, Navi Mumbai.  The intervention provides a range of HIV prevention, treatment and care services including:

  • Workplace interaction to promote safe sex behaviour
  • Condom promotion
  • Counseling
  • Behaviour Change Communication
  • Peer Education
  • STI and HIV screening 
  • Treatment for sexually transmitted diseases
  • Referral services



HIV PREVENTION, CARE AND SUPPORT INTERVENTION AMONG FEMALE SEX WORKERS 

In collaboration with the Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society

The intervention is being implemented in the third largest brothel-based location in Pune called Budhwar Peth. The project targets around 2000 Female Sex Workers (FSWs) on basic HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and referral services. The FSWs are also screened for non-communicable diseases like breast cancer and cervical cancer. Additionally, Manthan Foundation also facilitates their access to social entitlements and welfare schemes such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Ration card and Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Yojana. 

WORK WITH TRANSGENDER POPULATION 

Free health check-up camps and behaviour change communication sessions along with condom distribution are regularly organized for the transgender population in urban and rural areas of the Pune district; more than transgenders have benefitted from this initiative. Manthan Foundation is part of the committee formed by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for the upliftment of transgenders.

PROJECT ‘ACT ON NCD’ 

3000 Female Sex Workers, Partners and Transgenders above the age of 30 would be screened for diabetes and hypertension and provided with referral services.  

ANNAPURNA PROJECT 

In collaboration with Maha-NGO Federation 

90 Female Sex Workers living with HIV are receiving dry rations to help them with their dietary needs. 



YOGA TEACHER’ DIPLOMA COURSE 

In collaboration with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University 

90 students have completed the one-year diploma course in YOGA; some of them have started their own classes. 

ENVIRONMENT PRESERVATION 

In collaboration with Vasundhara NGO and Forest Department

More than 2000 trees have been planted and awareness sessions on snake bites have been organized in snake-prone areas. Manthan Foundation regularly organizes events to create awareness of environmental issues such as afforestation, solid waste management, water management and promoting the use of public transport and bicycles.
